Sunset Park Elementary School
Sunset Park Elementary School is the best kept secret in Miami-Dade County Public Schools! Tucked away in a little subdivision of Kendall, stands a wonderful school that has dedicated the last 37 years to the education of children. Sunset Park Elementary, with a student population of approximately 725 students, serves students from pre-kindergarten through the fifth grade. The school's multi-ethnic community is reflective of the cultural diversity of Miami-Dade County.
Sunset Park Elementary School differs from most other schools in its physical layout. It was built with an open learning center design. There are large learning centers which hold two classes in them. There were no walls separating most classes. Most of the upstairs learnings centers had moveable walls installed during the summer of 2000. The downstairs learning centers followed by adding moveable walls not too long after that. The teachers at Sunset Park work closely with each other in grade level teams. Each team works with all of the students at that grade level.
